My flight takes off in four and a half hours. I’m leaving my house in two and a half hours.

My room’s electricity just seemingly shorted out.

Now I get to finish packing by the light of the moon and my flashlight.

Life is really fun sometimes.

:-p

Feb 6

In theory, breaking up is kind of tough.

In real life, it totally and completely sucks.

I can’t believe it’s already the 6th. Yikes. I leave for Maryland tomorrow.

This past weekend was lovely. I got some time with my entire family, which was amazing. Will even included the other three of his siblings in his first working Sunday at the church; we all sang the song we wrote, which was a splendid way to spend my last Sunday in Texas for a while.

Now I have a day to run all my remaining errands, finish packing, and try to bring my bedroom to some sense of order (haha!). I fly out of Houston at 6:00am tomorrow.

Feb 2

It struck me this evening, while talking to Will, that there is way too much to do, and I only really have a very few days.

Tomorrow I’m having a friendly get-together thingy for my Houston buddies, then Friday, Will and Fobie are coming to Houston. Saturday, I’ll probably be in Austin. Sunday, I’ll be in San Marcos for Will’s first Sunday in his new church-music-guy job, and Monday will be my very last day in Texas, which I’ll want to spend with Daddy, trying to appreciate my time with him while also trying not to have a panic attack.

It’s going to be a very eventful few days, and I don’t think I have time to sleep if I want to get everything done before Tuesday.

Sigh…

I’ll try to go walking, though. I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I’ll try.

Weigh-in on Friday. Yikes!

Happy February, Tublees!! :-)

Okay,

AmeriCorps = Scary and exciting.

All the other Shi-stuff I’m dealing with = Scary and stupid and infuriating and depressing.

That is all. Thank you for listening.

In seven days, I’ll be in Maryland, starting on my big adventure as a member of AmeriCorps NCCC!

Things have been crazy as of late. I leave for AmeriCorps in eight days, and I’m so unprepared, it’s absurd.

THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO!!

I have about four check-lists going. It’s pretty ridiculous.

There’s stuff to buy, pack, ship, wash, find, and organize.

In the next eight days, I will hopefully learn how to pack my life into a cargo bag, and keep it under 50 pounds. I’ve always been terrible at packing.

It’ll be worth it, though! :-)

Also, I’m hoping for good news on my weigh-in on Friday! Sorry those have been so terribly inconsistent.

A longtime family friend on my mother’s side passed away on Monday afternoon, the day before his 89th birthday.

I didn’t know him very well, but I’ve heard people talk of him with admiration for my whole life, and he was always kind to me when I saw him.

I’m sending good thoughts to him, his family, and everyone else who loves him.

I am such a flake.

Okay, lovely Tumblees, I’m sorry I’ve neglected you. I feel terrible.

Things have been kind of crazy.

First of all, this past weekend was basically the best weekend ever.

Friday night was my going away party in Austin, and it was probably the best party that has ever existed. It was splendid. There was music, and Apples to Apples, and more music, and sugar snap peas, and queso (not eaten together), and funny stories, and some of my very favorite people in the whole world.

Saturday afternoon, I went to Olive Garden with one of my besties, Rachael, and we had a lovely time. I haven’t seen her in much too long, but in a way, that’s kind of comforting, because we’ve learned to be good friends over a distance, so I know I won’t lose her next month. :-)

Saturday evening, Fobie and I went to an awesome event that I’ve been excited about for months. I will tell you about that in a little bit, because I actually have some pictures of it. :-)

Best weekend ever.

Now I’m back home, trying to find my running shoes, clean the house, and get everything done before I move across the country in 13 days.

Eeeeeek!!!

I invented a crock pot curry last night. I’m hoping it turns out tasting as good as it’s making the house smell. :-)

In order to avoid the temptation of soda and other delicious drinkables, I try to keep the fridge well-supplied with gallons of filtered water and caffeine-free, unsweetened iced tea.

I made more tea the other day. I wound up making four gallons of it.

Good thing it never goes bad! We’ll be supplied for a good, long while. :-)

Dinner tonight was a big slice of veggie fritata (basically a quiche-type thing) from Phoenicia, with some baked Lay’s sour cream and onion potato chips. It looks a little gross in the bad picture, but it was delish! :-)

I tried to do the first week of First Day to 5K outside again, and, once again, had trouble.
About fifteen minutes in, my right shoulder was killing me, and my right calf was seizing up, but I kept going.
It was really, really tough not to just quit 2.25 miles in. My nose was running, my lips were chapped, and my shoulder and calf were hurting like crazy. I kept going, though, and I’m very proud of myself for that.

Also, I always seem to put off running until it’s pretty late in the day (I need to wake up and do it in the morning), and tonight the park’s resident lurkers were doing a better job of freaking me out than usual. So, five minutes before the thirty-minute track ended, I took my earbuds out of my ears, and my pepper spray out of my pocket*, and walked my last mile.
3.5 miles - 55 minutes
* I consider myself a paranoid optimist. Other people are generally incredibly awesome. However, as every horror movie ever made has taught me, any friendly, overweight, white girl wearing pink sweatpants while walking alone in the city park at dusk, is basically begging for a screaming audition**. I figure it’s better to be a little scary myself.
** I would get the part. I have the best scream ever. I really don’t care to audition, though.

I made a stir fry tonight. It turned out really well.

I chopped up:

 • 2 Portabella mushrooms
 • 12 asparagus spears
 • 1/2 yellow bell pepper
 • 1/2 orange bell pepper
 • 1 small Italian eggplant
 • 1 small head of broccoli
 • 1 package of extra firm tofu
 • 1/4 red onion

I started by thoroughly sauteing the tofu in olive oil, and then I dumped everything else on top and stirred it around until it was all thoroughly cooked.

I then seasoned the heck out of it. I used a packet of pre-made General Tso’s chicken sauce, red pepper, black pepper, nutmeg, some hot red curry paste, and a honey glaze rub.

I served it over mixed wild and brown rice.

I’m so glad there are plenty of leftovers! I’m totally eating it again tomorrow!
